I love Europe in September. The summer crowds start to die down and the weather is still warm in most places. This year, I’m spending the entire month in Europe traveling between Serbia and Spain. It’ll still be summer weather, mainly, though it might start getting chilly by the time I return home at the end of the month. That means warm-weather clothes with a few layers in the case of cooler temps or rain.
I packed enough for about a week and plan on washing items throughout the trip. If you don’t have access to a washer/dryer, bring a small bottle of Dr. Bronner’s soap to hand wash your clothes. It can double as shampoo, body wash, etc…
Another great rule of thumb is to stick to a simple color palette so everything mixes and matches. The more multitasking items you have, for clothes and toiletries, the better. Ready? Here’s how I’m packing light for Europe in September.
Bags + Organization
Bags: Carry-on suitcase, large tote bag, crossbody purse/camera bag
Organization: Packing cubes, TSA-approved toiletry bottles, TSA-approved clear toiletry bag, small plastic bags (for cords and small miscellaneous items).
Clothing + Shoes
Dresses: 1 midi-length dress, 1 cap sleeve dress, 1 multifunctional dress (doubles as a cardigan, scarf, top and more), 1 button down dress that can be worn as a tunic or swimsuit coverup
Tip: Try styling your dresses with tops so they can double as a skirt.
Bottoms: 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of pants
Tops: 1 white t-shirt, 1 button-up shirt (to wear with dresses or bottoms), 2 tank tops, 1 blouse
Swimwear: 1 bathing suit
PJs / Active / Lounge: 1 pair of leggings, 1 sports bra, 1 pajamas, 1 nude convertible bra, 1 black bra, underwear, footies/socks
Outerwear: 1 light, weather-resistant jacket
Shoes: 1 pair of casual sneakers, 1 pair of comfy sandals that go from day to night
Beauty + Wellness
Skincare: Ursa Major natural cleanser (or these travel-friendly wipes), DIY rosewater facial mist, One Love Organics Wonder Balm (makeup remover and moisturizer)
Health and personal care: Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, natural deodorant, razor, probiotics, magnesium, melatonin, menstrual cup, Sleep Ease essential oil
Beauty and hair: Hynt Beauty concealer, Alima Pure pressed foundation, Bite Beauty lipstick (for cheeks + lips), Lily Lolo mascara, eyeliner, lip balm, dry shampoo, hairbrush
What to buy there
To save a little space and reduce my carry-on liquids, I’ll buy shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen and body lotion once I’m there.
Well, that’s it! My crossbody purse/camera bag and DSLR camera will get packed inside my tote bag along with my in-flight essentials, laptop, Kindle, and chargers.
Do you have any other packing tips? I’d love to know!
